Cars, Tv/Rehearsal Review,Show Preview

Either Friday or Saturday, because the days are running together, we took delivery of Top Gear, Season 10, courtesy of Helly.

Now, were it not for Penn and Teller’s Bullshit, Top Gear would my favorite show ever. There’s plenty of car pr0n, but I think the highlight of the show is the writing/wit of the three hosts. I love Star in a Reasonable Priced Car. I love cars. I’m currently driving a PT Cruiser (a car that, alas, the Top Gear kids think is very uncool).  I’m really not sure what my dream car would be right now: The fast super cars don’t thrill because, well, I know I’d kill myself driving one.  The idea that my bass should fit in one is so ingrained that that’s usually the first thing I think of when I see ANY car, and finally, when possible, I think that it is better to have than to lust after…

So unless my dream car is a one of a kind Ferrari, I’m going to try to figure out how to buy whatever it is I’m dying for. Currently, BMW and Cooper are cars that get third looks from me…or something old and vintage. Perhaps it is also a sign of me being boring that I’m also looking for something that will a) never break down and b) get like 800 MPG.

In the rehearsal room, we’re writing one new song for Thursday, and possibly even another one for Saturday. It is going well, more or less. Sometimes Sarah and I have very different ideas of what kind of music we’d like to play, write, compose, or whatever. This can have an interesting effect on marriages.

We had a fantastic time at Summer Bloodfest in Spartanburg, and we can report there are things afoot that will hopefully jump start the Gothic “scene” in upstate SC.  We’re hoping to be a big part of this revival/renaissance. If you’re in the area, come on out Thursday (Asheville, not quite an hour away)…we’d appreciate the support, and we always like hanging out with people that like our music.
